Road Tripping Through South Africa!

We just came back from the most amazing road trip ever! Everything was spectacular, but the best stop must have been the Magaliesberg Mountains! The Magaliesberg Mountains are only a hour away from Johannesburg and Pretoria and is home to the Elephant Sanctuary. We stayed at Hartbeespoort Dam – it’s always been a very popular weekend getaway spot. Here we enjoyed many activities like para-sailing, windsurfing and jet skiing. We also visited the aquarium and the zoo – which has a snake park and cheetah trust. We will be sure to go back to Hartbeespoort Dam soon, it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure.

The Cavern: a Drakensberg holiday resort offering a tranquil family holiday

The Drakensberg is the perfect place for a relaxing family holiday away from the distractions and stresses of city life. We all dream of that relaxing holiday in a beautiful place where we can unwind with a good book, participate in fun activities, revitalise in awe-inspiring surroundings, and bond with our loved ones. Staying in Drakensberg accommodation will leave you refreshed and rejuvenated; ready to tackle the challenges life throws your way.

Family holidays are amongst the most treasured memories held by many, however they can be incredibly difficult to plan and stressful. By picking a location that has something for everyone, you’ll be on your way to planning an enjoyable vacation for your whole family. Many families choose to vacation in the Drakensberg as there are more than enough activities to be enjoyed by all members of the family and available accommodation that is equipped to suit everyone’s needs.

Drakensberg accommodation is situated in one of the most beautiful regions of South Africa. Here, majestic mountains and rolling plains make up an untouched landscape; leaving visitors in awe and wonder. Streams, caves and waterfalls are scattered amongst the beautiful scenery; inspiring both guests and locals. Whilst staying in Drakensberg accommodation guests start to feel like they have their very own private piece of paradise.

Many families choose to holiday in the Drakensberg to get away from the noise and lights of the city. Here, they can enjoy the fresh air by hiking to Waterfalls, go for strolls by the streams, and view the ancient rock paintings in the Drakensberg caves. Depending on which Drakensberg accommodation you choose to stay in, children’s facilities, activities and nannies will enable you to go on longer hikers and treks with the knowledge that your little ones are being looked after by professionals. If you choose to leave your children with minders, you can do so with the knowing that they’ll probably be having more fun than they would whilst being dragged up a mountain on a five hour hike.

Drakensberg accommodation is popular for its location and activities, but is also loved for its facilities which pamper and comfort guests; many lodges and guest houses here have beauty and health spas to spoil their visitors. Spend hours tanning by a swimming pool whilst you watch the little ones splash around, and enjoy romantic dinners in gourmet restaurants once they’re fast asleep.

The Drakensberg has an ecosystem steeped in history and whether you choose to relax in your idyllic Drakensberg accommodation or be active outdoors; you’ll get a sense of the majesty of the area. Indulge yourselves with an idyllic getaway; you’ll have the time of your life in a magical place, and will leave rejuvenated and invigorated.

Cape Town Accommodation

An easy day trip from Cape Town, the Winelands offer great scenery, white-washed gabled farmhouses nestling in bright green vineyards, lovely little restaurants, great coffee shops and – of course – wine tasting sales and cellar tours. When the sun goes down you can choose between hundreds of great restaurants and a huge range of funky pubs, vibey clubs and a wide selection of movies, theatre and live music. Cape Town is also home to one of the most outrageous parties in the world. The Mother City Queer Project is a themed costume party in December that is fast becoming one of the most popular gatherings – certainly in South Africa – and possibly the world. And shortly thereafter, the traditional Kaapse Klopse minstrel dancers take over parts of the city streets in a tradition that stretches back hundreds of years to the era when slavery was legal in Cape Town. Don’t forget to pack your dancing shoes. Cape Town accommodation is plentiful and there’s something to suit every budget but it is highly advisable to book ahead, especially over the Christmas season (December to mid-February) and during the Argus Cycle Tour (usually mid-March).
